Colin Cantrell

Investigations & Case Management

Colin Cantrell is a former Police Inspector with considerable CID experience, retiring after over 30 years service from The Derbyshire Constabulary. He has practical experience in many areas of criminal investigation, and has been an established member of specialised investigative units including:

  • Major crime enquiries
  • NCIS - Regional Crime Intelligence.

The practical experience in the above fields includes

  • Handling at Force level the receipt of  IOCA material
  • Dealing with PII applications
  • Practical experience of working within the guidelines to serious crime investigation laid down by PACE and RIPA
  • Full HOLMES training and practical investigative usage at senior level
  • Investigation and of compilation of large volume files
  • Investigation of Major Crime, including murder, rape, counterfeiting and other like incidents
  • Practical experience of  disclosure on major files
  • Briefing Counsel

For the last eleven years he has worked as a consultant in support of lawyers in both criminal and civil procedures, through which he has maintained and updated his specialist knowledge in large and serious case management. He has managed several CCU Contracted files concerning fraud, MTIC fraud and drug trafficking amongst other complex matters.  He meets both the Essential and Desirable criteria required for inclusion as Case Manager on this application for VHCC (Crime) Panel status. He is currently accredited with the CCU as a Grade B Case Worker.
